Device Description

ASTgsm LTE is a next-generation controller designed for remote management of street and outdoor lighting installations. The controller utilizes the latest LTE CAT M1 cellular communication standard, providing reliable, secure, and low-power data transmission for continuous monitoring and control.

Designed for installation on a standard 35 mm DIN rail, the controller occupies 6 DIN modules and integrates six independently programmable relay outputs, three digital inputs, an interface for the ASTlux digital light sensor, an RS-485 interface for power quality analyzers, a backup battery input, and an integrated Wi-Fi communication module.

Using its built-in GPS receiver, ASTgsm LTE automatically determines its geographical location and calculates optimal astronomical switching times based on the local sunrise and sunset. Configuration, monitoring, and diagnostics are performed remotely through the ASTonline cloud platform and dedicated mobile applications.

System Capabilities

ASTgsm LTE provides independent programming of six relay outputs and supports three digital inputs for connection of external devices, such as cabinet door switches, alarm contacts, or other control signals.

The controller operates with the ASTlux digital light sensor, enabling automatic control of a single lighting controller or multiple controllers based on the actual ambient light level.

The integrated GPS receiver provides:

  • Automatic time synchronization.
  • Automatic geographical positioning.
  • Automatic controller localization on the system map.

Communication with the controller is available through two independent interfaces:

  • LTE CAT M1 communication via the ASTonline cloud platform.
  • Local Wi-Fi communication using the dedicated ASTgsm mobile application.

Additionally, the ASTgsm Service application enables remote maintenance and service operations using LTE communication.

Power Network Monitoring

ASTgsm LTE supports intelligent power quality monitoring through compatible analyzers communicating via the MODBUS RS-485 protocol.

The controller can continuously read and archive the following electrical parameters:

  • Voltage
  • Current
  • Active Power
  • Reactive Power
  • Active Energy
  • Reactive Energy

An advanced alarm management system generates server notifications and SMS messages whenever configured electrical thresholds are exceeded or other alarm conditions occur.
